Alyssa Farah Griffin tells PEOPLE she’s sought parenting advice from celebrity guests on The View, including Kim Kardashian and Teyana Taylor

Kardashian emphasized protecting sacred routines, like taking her kids to school, despite a busy schedule

Taylor encouraged Griffin to trust herself and prioritize her mental and physical health postpartum

Prior to welcoming her first baby, Alyssa Farah Griffin soaked up parenting advice wherever she could, including from some very famous moms who had joined her at The View table.

The co-host — who gave birth to her son, Justin Patrick Griffin, Jr., on Tuesday, Feb. 10 — told PEOPLE before her maternity leave that she was been “completely shameless” about asking celebrity guests for parenting wisdom.

Kim Kardashian and Teyana Taylor, in particular, offered words that stuck with her. When the All's Fair pair were on the ABC daytime talk show back in October, Griffin, 36, had to know how they were able to balance being multitasking moms.

“I was like, how lucky am I that I get to ask two super high-performing powerhouse moms for parenting advice?” she recalled. "And they both had incredible advice."

According to Griffin, Kardashian, 45, emphasized the importance of routines, even with an overflowing schedule.

“She talked about keeping certain things non-negotiable,” Griffin said. “For her, taking her four kids to school every morning is one of those moments she protects. Even if she has a million things to do, no matter how much else she has going on, she makes sure she's there for that special moment for them. And I love that idea of having something that stays sacred. It really resonated."

That's something Griffin feels confident she'll be able to do when she returns to The View. "What's so incredible about this job is that we are a morning show, so I can go back to doing what I love and still come home at a reasonable hour and be with my son," she said. "It's the best of both worlds, and I feel beyond blessed for that."

Taylor, meanwhile, offered reassurance that felt especially grounding to Griffin.

“Her advice very much aligned with something I was thinking about a lot during my pregnancy, which is listening to your body and your mind,” Griffin said of the mother of two, 35. “She was like, 'There’s all this pressure — you have to do this, you have to do that, you have to breastfeed this long, you have to do everything a certain way.' And she was like, ‘Do what’s right for you.’ Listen to your body. Listen to your mind.' "

Those words aligned with what Griffin revealed have become the most consistent message she’s heard from moms across the board: be kind to yourself, especially postpartum.

“For someone like me who’s very type A, that reminder has been huge,” she said. “Giving yourself time to heal, taking care of your mental and physical health and bonding with the baby? That’s been the most universal advice I’ve gotten.”

Griffin noted that hearing those perspectives — from friends, colleagues and celebrity guests alike — has helped ease the pressure of trying to do everything perfectly. It's something she and her husband, Justin Griffin, are taking to heart as they enter this next chapter.

“We’re not going to be perfect at this,” she said. “But we’re definitely going to try our best.”

Speaking of trying her best, Griffin said she'll be trying her best to tune into The View on her maternity leave, though she doubts it'll be during the show's live time slot.

"I bet it's going to be at 1 a.m. when I'm breastfeeding on Hulu, but I do plan to watch," she said. "I don't think I'm going to be like Joy Behar when she's out and she's live texting us all what she would've said differently if she were at the table. I'll leave the recap with the girls until the next morning!"

Guest hosts will be filling in for Griffin for the next few months, starting with Savannah Chrisley. on Feb. 17. Others include Amanda Carpenter, Sheryl Underwood and Whitney Cummings and former View co-hosts Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Abby Huntsman.

The View airs weekdays (at 11 a.m. ET) on ABC
