Thanks to its inclusion in the Timothée Chalamet box office smash Marty Supreme, Peter Gabriel's 1982 song "I Have the Touch" has been getting plenty of attention lately...and now the Grammy-winning musician has announced a brand-new album is on the way.

A follow-up to his 2023 album i/o, his next album is titled o\i and will be released in the same fashion, with a new song dropping on each full moon of the next year, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. The first single, "Been Undone," is coming out this Saturday, Jan. 3. All the songs on the album will be available in “Dark-Side” and “Bright-Side” mixes, with "Bright-Side" mixes being released on every month’s new moon.

"I have been thinking about the future and how we might respond to it," Gabriel, 75, said in a press release. "We are sliding into a period of transition like no other, most likely triggered in three waves: AI, quantum computing and the brain computer interface. Artists have a role to look into the mists and, when they catch sight of something, to hold up a mirror."

"These are my lumpy bits – i/o: the inside has a new way out and o/i: the outside has a new way in," he continued, adding, "We are not, and have never been, the exclusively self-determining, independent beings that have been given the run of the world. We are something else, a part of nature, a part of everything and feeling a connection, shaking our booty and giving and receiving some love can help us find our place — and put a big smile on our faces."

"Some of these songs are going to form part of the brain project that I’ve been exploring for a number of years, and some just make me feel happy. I hope you like them," Gabriel said in conclusion.

Each song on o/i will also be released with an original work of art. "Been Undone" includes a piece by artist Janaina Mello Landini called Ciclotrama 156 (Palindrome).

In an Instagram post earlier this month, Gabriel thanked Marty Supreme director Josh Safdie for his inclusion of "I Have the Touch."

"I was delighted that ‘I Have the Touch‘ was chosen for the soundtrack of Marty Supreme," he wrote. "The song is rarely asked out for a dance and I have always loved table tennis. Now there seems to be a real buzz about the film. Although I have it in my Academy pack we are waiting to see it on the big screen in the Christmas holiday."

Gabriel even revealed that he "always" has a ping pong table backstage on tour for band and crew members to "jump on" whenever they want.
